THE DIRECTOR’S TOOLBOX OVERVIEW

There are very few training opportunities that integrate theatre directing training with a live production to gain valuable exposure and feedback. Theatre InspiraTO, the producers of the InspiraTO Festival, is excited to present a new initiative in theatre directing: The Director’s Toolbox.

The Directors Toolbox provides mentorship to new and emerging artists to learn the art of theatre directing.  The Directors Toolbox pushes artists to develop as directors through critically and creatively engaging with a short theatrical production. This program is meant to ease the transition into the professional theatre community.

16 participants will be selected in The Director’s Toolbox program who will:
- Direct a ten-minute play at Canada’s largest ten-minute play festival (June 1 – 10, 2017)
- The festival is performed at the Alumnae Theatre in Toronto (on the Mainstage, Studio & Trinity)
- Receive training in theatre directing
- Open to University/College theatre students in their last two years of schooling or recent graduates (within two years from graduation.)

-Deadline to apply: Nov. 30/16. To apply click here.
- There are no fees to apply or to be part of the program

We do not pay for any travel or lodging fees or rehearsal space (for most ten-minute plays this does not pose much of a problem). There are no fees for participating artists in The Director's Toolbox program.  Theatre artists experience a dynamic theatre festival (now entering its 12th season with over 200 ten-minute plays produced to date) with hands on experience, audience feedback, training and a chance to connect with over 100 theatre artists each season.
