Theatre InspiraTO, the producers of the InspiraTO Festival, Canada's largest ten-minute play festival, with over 220 ten-minute plays produced to date is set to showcase its 12th Festival. Our volunteer base is the reason we have been able to grow each year. There are various opportunities to share your creativity and voice. For our 12th season we have four different shows: red, blue, white and black with 36 performances in total. Be part of an innovative theatre festival with over 100 participating artists. 

Most positions don't require experience.

Descriptions of Positions (followed by the schedule and how to apply) 

Lighting Operator Mainstage
- experience not necessary   
The lighting operator directed by the Stage Manager will ensure the timing of the lighting. Lighting plays a crucial role for all the plays on the Mainstage with a wonderful cornucopia of projections and lighting.  Work in the booth alongside the Stage Manager and Projectionist. Have a memorable experience.


Projectionist Mainstage
- experience not necessary
The Projectionist directed by the Stage Manager will ensure the timing of the projections and sound.  All the plays on the Mainstage incorporate dynamic projections using the latest technology.     

Lighting Operator Studio -
experience not necessary   
The lighting operator directed by the Stage Manager will ensure the timing of the lighting. The Studio theatre has an intimate feel and takes place in the Alumnae Theatre Attic with open wooden beams.

Assistant Stage Managers/Mainstage (5 positions)  - experience not necessary 
Working backstage with the actors and coordinating the set changes. No experience required but experience in theatre helpful. Of Interest: The InspiraTO festival has quick set changes between each play (6 ten-minute plays per show) which requires attention to detail and handling over 14 actors per show.

red or blue Show Stage Managers/Mainstage (2 positions) - experience preferred but not necessary
Leading and calling the production of each show. Ideally you should have some experience in stage managing or be part of a production theatre program in college or university.
Of Interest: The Stage Manager calls and runs each show: 6 ten-minute plays, coordinating the lighting operator, sound/projectiontists, ASMs.
   

white or black Show Stage Managers/Studio/Trinity (2 positions) 
- experience preferred but not necessary 
Leading and calling the production of each show. The unique set up requires audiences to move from space to space which feels more akin to a "site specific" play. You should have some experience in stage managing or be part of a production theatre program in college or university.
Of Interest: The Stage Manager calls and runs each show: 6 ten-minute plays, coordinating the lighting operator, sound/projectiontists, coordinating actors. 

Make Up Artist (2 positions) - experience required
With over 50 actors we need two Make Up Artists; you need to be available for the dress rehearsals and performances. 
Of Interest: Although many of the actors require basic make up, the sheer number of actors (50) requires good organization skills.
Dates: There are over 50 actors with varies degrees of make-up requirements. There is room for flexibility on the dates as long as there is at least one Make Up Artist for any given show. 

Front House Ambassadors (14 positions) - no expereince required
InspiraTO has a fantastic line up for its upcoming 12th season. You will be helping patrons with the box office, acting as InspiraTO Ambassadors and helping guide patrons to one of the four shows.   
Of Interest: All this means an opportunity to be part of Canada's largest ten-minute play festival, as we expand and add a dynamic series of shows. See shows for free.
Dates: See Front of House schedule below. You must be available for at least two shows. You will be requested to attend an orientation closer to the opening dates of the festival -- please state your availability. 


General Help/Set Design

We set up the stage on Thursday May 25 (9 -5), showcasing InspiraTO’s creative set design setting up. We strike on Sunday June 11.    

Marketing Volunteers
Social Marketing Lead
Social media plays an ever increasing role in the InspiraTO Theatre Festival. Theatre InspiraTO has a website (highlighting 100 theatre artists), a facebook fanpage, twitter, uses Constant Contact for email marketing with a growing database and has just recently created a new 3D InspiraTO bird we plan to use for promotions. You would guide and coordinate the three social media leads: facebook, twitter and the website.
Of Interest: This is ideal for someone who wants to play a leadership role in social media marketing and be an integral part of the InspiraTO team. We are seeking an individual who has a solid understanding and experience with social media with a love for and the arts. You will create a overall social media strategy, plan and execute weekly facebook, twitter, website content with the other social media leads.  
Dates: Your time commitment in the early part of the planning is flexible, 2-5 hrs/week in March, and as we get closer to the actual festival, 3-6 hrs/week from April, May and early June (during the performances). 

Facebook Campaigner
InspiraTO's Facebook page has a diverse source of content, interest and promotion and acts as InspiraTO's updates and story highlights. You have a solid understanding of facebook.
Of Interest: This is ideal for someone who has ideas on what stories to highlight and would love to be part of a team promoting a theatre festival. 
Dates: Your time commitment in the early part of the planning is flexible, 2-5 hrs/week in March, and as we get closer to the actual festival, 3-6 hrs/week from April, May and early June (during the performances). 
  
Twitter Champion 
When used effectively twitter can play a vital role in theatre. This year we have created four 3D InspiraTO birds that can be used creatively and playfully to convey InspiraTO's message.    
Of Interest: This is ideal for someone who loves to consistently take part in social media conversation and show they are having fun.     
Dates: Your time commitment in the early part of the planning is flexible, 2-5 hrs/week in March, and as we get closer to the actual festival, 3-6 hrs/week from April, May and early June (during the performances). 

Website Coordinator 
Theatre InspiraTO has over 100 theatre artists participating. The website coordinator ensures artists are showcased on the website by listing artists bios, photos, shows etc. You need to be highly organized.
Of Interest: If you like the challenge of coordinating and updating a host of information for a dynamic cultural event you will find this volunteer position stimulating. Note: We will be launching a new website in March. 
Dates: Your time commitment in the early part of the planning is flexible, 2-5 hrs/week in March, and as we get closer to the actual festival, 3-6 hrs/week from April, May and early June (during the performances).
2 Lighting Designers (Assistants welcomed) 

Lighting Designer Mainstage: 
Designing the lighting for 12 plays for the Mainstage shows (Alumnae Theater). 
Experience is required (working with lighting plots etc) but it doesn't need to be extensive. Most importantly we need your commitment and ability to work the Artistic Team. A wonderful opportunity for the right person. 

Lighting Designer Studio: 
Designing the lighting for 6 plays for Alumnae's Studio space   Experience is required (working with lighting plots etc) but it doesn't need to be extensive. Most importantly we need your commitment and ability to work the artistic team. A wonderful opportunity for the right person. 


Program Designer
 
Designing the program for the festival (layout and design). Experience in Photoshop and Design required. Flexible schedule – with deadline of completion by May 30.
